Paramedic (PRN)

Townsen Memorial Imaging Facility is currently seeking a Paramedic (PRN) to join our amazing team. The Paramedic is responsible for providing patient care, patient monitoring, intravenous access support for contrast administration, and emergency response support within the Imaging Department under the direction of the Radiologic Safety Officer and licensed healthcare providers. The Paramedic performs advanced patient assessment and interventions within the scope of Paramedic licensure and assists in promoting safe, efficient, and quality care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures.

Essential functions include providing safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care within the scope of Paramedic licensure and organizational policies. The Paramedic assists with establishing and maintaining intravenous (IV) access for contrast administration and imaging procedures in accordance with departmental policies, physician orders, and scope of practice. They respond promptly to patient care needs, changes in patient condition, and emergency situations occurring within the Imaging Department. The Paramedic performs patient assessments and communicates findings to the appropriate healthcare providers. They assist with patient monitoring and support the care of patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures. They maintain competency in emergency response, airway management, cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, and other skills required for the position. The Paramedic collaborates effectively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other members of the healthcare team to promote patient safety and quality outcomes. They recognize and report significant changes in patient condition and assist with appropriate interventions. The Paramedic documents patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and timely in the medical record. They demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and excellent customer service in all interactions with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers. The Paramedic maintains required certifications, competencies, and continuing education necessary to perform assigned responsibilities. They ensure emergency equipment, supplies, and patient care areas are maintained in a safe and operational condition. The Paramedic complies with all organizational policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. They participate in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and educational initiatives.

Knowledge of emergency medical care principles, practices, and procedures is required. The Paramedic must have knowledge of advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), cardiac rhythm interpretation, and emergency response protocols. They should know patient assessment techniques and the ability to recognize changes in patient condition. The Paramedic must understand infection prevention, safety standards, and patient confidentiality requirements. They should be familiar with medical terminology, documentation standards, and electronic medical record systems. The Paramedic should be skilled in patient monitoring, vital sign assessment, cardiac monitoring, and electrocardiogram (EKG) acquisition. They should be skilled in venipuncture, establishing and maintaining intravenous (IV) access for contrast administration and imaging procedures, specimen collection, and other procedures within the Paramedic scope of practice. The Paramedic should be skilled in operating and maintaining patient care and emergency response equipment. They should be able to respond rapidly and appropriately to emergency situations and changing patient conditions. The Paramedic should be able to exercise sound clinical judgment and make appropriate decisions within the scope of licensure. They should be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Paramedic should be able to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members. They should be able to maintain accurate and timely documentation. The Paramedic should be able to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. They should be able to maintain professionalism, composure, and attention to detail during stressful situations. The Paramedic should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. They should be able to provide exceptional customer service while ensuring patient safety and quality care.

Education and experience requirements include graduation from an accredited Paramedic training program, current Texas Paramedic certification/licensure in good standing, one (1) year hospital/surgery center experience, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
