Associate Engineer Location: Los Angeles, California (Union Station) Job ID: 2026-3261 Job Summary As an Associate Engineer on the Supply Acquisition Team, your primary focus will be supporting the development and implementation of local resource programs, water supply purchases, in-region and out-of-region storage programs, transfers, and water exchanges. You will support facets of water resource management including water resource planning, contract negotiations, cost estimates, cost assessments and reconciliations, maintaining program data, report preparations, invoices, and supporting the team in developing new programs. Responsibilities Drive documentation strategy: analyze resource needs, coordinate program implementation timelines, and manage overlapping schedules. Produce high-impact content: develop and evaluate policies, contracts, cost analyses, and technical reports that meet regulatory and internal standards. Visualize complex data: design and develop technical presentation materials, flowcharts, and graphics, incorporating multimedia elements. Ensure precision and accountability: perform data review for completeness and accuracy; develop and manage program budgets, track performance, and reconcile costs. Collaborate across teams: contribute to project teams applying technical expertise to support Metropolitan's mission. Qualifications Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field plus four years of relevant experience, of which two years at the Assistant Engineer II level; OR Master's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant experience at Assistant Engineer II level. Relevant/Related Experience : Working experience with water resources (groundwater, recycled water, hydrology, hydraulics, and water treatment processes). Certifications and Licenses License(s) : Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
