Job Description
This role involves constructing, installing, and repairing wood and metal structures and fixtures across a variety of construction projects. You will use your carpentry expertise, blueprint reading skills, and commitment to safety and quality to deliver precise, durable work on both structural and finish tasks. We are doing a lot of deck builds right now and will be moving into commercial work in the next few months. If you are interested we can have you start within a few days of the interview.
Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute carpentry work accurately.
• Measure, cut, and assemble wood, metal, and other construction materials with precision.
• Build and install structural components such as framing, walls, floors, roofs, and formwork.
• Install doors, windows, cabinetry, trim, siding, and other finish carpentry elements.
• Construct and dismantle concrete forms and scaffolding as required for each project.
• Perform rough carpentry tasks, including framing, roofing, drywall installation, and metal stud work.
• Support concrete and form carpentry activities in commercial construction environments.
• Carry out demolition tasks safely and efficiently when required by the project.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and in accordance with guidelines.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, construction standards, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate closely with supervisors, project managers, and other trades on-site to coordinate work.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area to support efficient operations.
• Assist with general construction tasks and other related duties as needed on the job site.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of carpentry experience or equivalent apprenticeship experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials used in both rough and finish work.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and plans.
• Demonstrated experience with construction tasks such as framing, drywall, roofing, siding installation, and form carpentry.
• Ability to work with wood, metal studs, and concrete in commercial construction settings.
• Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
• Strong math and measurement skills to ensure accurate cuts, layouts, and installations.
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship with a focus on quality and durability.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining compliance with building codes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in rough carpentry, including framing and structural work.
• Experience in finish carpentry, including trim, cabinetry, and detailed interior work.
• Experience with demolition tasks and site preparation.
• Comfort working with a variety of construction materials, including wood, metal, and concrete.

Work Environment
The role is based primarily on active construction sites, including a mix of outdoor areas and unfinished buildings. You will work in environments that may be exposed to varying weather conditions, so you must feel comfortable working in all types of weather. The work involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment, as well as tasks such as framing, drywall, roofing, siding installation, and concrete formwork. Job sites can be busy and dynamic, requiring awareness of safety procedures and coordination with other trades throughout the workday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, ME.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
