Renewable Energy Tax Associate

Overview The Houston office of McGuireWoods seeks an Associate to join its Renewable Energy Tax Group. Job Description Our lawyers partner with developers, independent power producers, utilities, and infrastructure funds to advance renewable energy projects from conception to completion. Whether navigating regulatory frameworks, structuring transactions, or maximizing the value of critical tax and energy incentives, we deliver practical, business-minded solutions that get deals done and projects constructed. The team guides clients as they seize opportunities in regional energy markets, carbon management and emerging incentive programs. Our streamlined analysis of project platforms provides a systematic approach to conducting diligence on real property, regulatory and project documents. We provide end-to-end support for renewable energy projects nationwide and across all major technologies. Qualifications Candidates should have at least 7 years of experience in a law firm or Big 4 accounting firm. The associate will work with McGuireWoods’ transactional tax lawyers to assist clients with tax issues relating to renewable energy transactions, such as advising clients on begin construction requirements, prevailing wage requirements and apprenticeship requirements under code section 45 and 48, M&A transactions, tax equity transactions, tax credit transfers and other joint ventures. Experience with tax credit transactions, tax credit transfers, tax equity financings and tax opinion letters is preferred but is not a requirement.
