Campus Support MonitorNon-Exempt position according to district calendar in the Police Department reporting to the Campus Principal. No supervision involved.Education: High School DiplomaExperience: Six months of work-related experience; including some experience working with children, youth leadership, coaching, and/or counseling preferred.Essential Functions:Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student code of conductResolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to immediate supervisorInvestigate complaints, disturbances, or violationsControl traffic and parking on campus groundsRegister student vehicles and maintain accurate records of registrationDocument, record and report vandalism and car accidents and prepare activity reports for theftAssist law enforcement personnel as neededGive directions or escort students, authorized visitors, disruptive individuals or cargo to designated locationsMonitor entrance or exit of persons, as neededOperate detecting devices to screen individuals and properties and prevent passage of prohibited articles into school areasAttend extra-curricular activities and graduation to provide student supervision, when necessaryMaintain a good working relationship and professional demeanor with security personnel, DISD staff, students, parents, and community membersMonitor alarm system to detect emergencies and notify police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attentionWarn persons of minor infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessaryWrite reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrencesPerforms all other tasks and duties as assignedQualification Requirements:Demonstrated ability to recognize public safety hazardsDemonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict situations is a plusKnowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective school security operations for the protection of people, data and property is a plusDemonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing worldPhysical Demands:Regularly required to sit; stand; move throughout the room and/or facility; communicate verbally and electronically; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; kneel, stoop, crouch, and/or crawl; and climb or balance. Regularly required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.
