Speech Language Pathologist

SLP Clinical EducatorThe mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is the development of professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.The SLP Clinical Educator (CE) is a state-licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist who educates, mentors, and supervises students performing client evaluations, screenings, and treatment of patients (adult and pediatric) during on-campus MS-SLP residencies. CEs are required to attend any essential training opportunities offered by the program.The qualified candidate must have an entry-level master's degree or higher, along with an appropriate state license and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. At least 2 years of hands-on experience is required in a patient care setting in the profession, and completion of the ASHA requirement for supervision of graduate interns. The successful candidate will have excellent oral communication and organizational skills, be responsive to adult student needs, and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.This is an hourly, as-needed position for on-campus residencies. Hours will vary based on program requirements. Work schedules will be established in collaboration with program leaders and faculty.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepares the clinical environment to ensure students and clients are ready for sessions.Organizes and maintains equipment; proposes equipment orders as needed.Teaches and models clinical communication, professionalism, and collaboration.Interacts frequently with students to provide direction, guidance, and feedback.Assists with administration, scoring, and written reporting of assessments and therapy sessions.Communicates with students and families on assessment and treatment activities.Monitors student performance and progress with clinical skills development, provides feedback, and facilitates student participation in learning activities.Assesses student performance on assessment, intervention, interaction, and personal qualities.Supervises, assesses, and provides feedback to students regarding proper protocols for clinical documentation.Reports student performance to the MS-SLP program.Communicates with MS-SLP faculty to ensure consistent content delivery and student concerns, and to recommend changes for upcoming semesters.May lead and/or debrief student participation in clinical simulation activities.Upholds student and part-time faculty handbook policies.Promotes professionalism by modeling such behaviors.Self-evaluates clinical supervision performance; sets goals for improvement in collaboration with program leadership and faculty.Other Duties and Responsibilities May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.Position in OrganizationReports to: MS-SLP Director of Clinical EducationPositions Supervised: Not applicableTechnical, Managerial & People Skills RequiredMaster's degree or higherSupervision experience with graduate students and/or clinical fellowsExcellent organization and time management skillsExcellent oral communication skillsProfessional role modelAble to provide a nurturing, respectful learning environmentResponsive to distance education, adult student needsWorking knowledge of educational theory and motor skill developmentAble to work in a team environmentLicensure and/or CertificationState-licensed speech-language pathologistASHA certification (minimum 9 months)TravelMinimal to no travel is requiredBusiness CompetenciesCollaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.Being Resilient - Rebounding from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations.Instills Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.Drives Results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.Innovation - Creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful.Customer Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
