Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, primarily Haas and Mazak machines, to produce high-quality parts according to blueprints and schematics. You will work with multiple machines at the same time, perform light programming on Fanuc and Mazatrol controls, and use precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet specifications.
Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Haas and Mazak CNC mills and lathes to produce parts to specification.
• Run multiple CNC machines simultaneously while maintaining quality and efficiency.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine machining operations and dimensions.
• Perform light CNC programming and make adjustments using Fanuc and Mazatrol controls as needed.
• Select, install, and properly use cutting tools for drilling, threading, boring, and keyway operations.
• Monitor machines during operation, identify issues, and make necessary offsets or corrections.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Handle and move materials and parts, including lifting items up to 50 pounds.
• Collaborate with the team to support the growth and build-out of the machine room.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience setting up and running Haas CNC machines.
• Hands-on experience setting up and running Mazak CNC machines.
• Experience operating both CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics accurately.
• Experience with CNC setup and operation, including tooling and offsets.
• Familiarity with Fanuc CNC controls.
• Familiarity with Mazatrol controls.
• Ability to run multiple CNC machines at the same time while maintaining quality.
• Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools.
• Ability to perform drilling and threading operations.
• Ability to perform boring and keyway (bore and key) operations.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Fanuc and Mazatrol controls preferred.
• Ability to perform light CNC programming and program edits.
• Experience working with Haas and Mazak machines in a production or job shop environment.
• Comfort working with CNC programs and making basic adjustments as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple machines effectively.
• Willingness to support the expansion and improvement of the machine room.

Work Environment
You will work in a machine shop environment operating CNC mills and lathes, primarily Haas and Mazak equipment with Fanuc and Mazatrol controls. The role is full-time on a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with potential for overtime based on workload. The shop is in a growth phase, with plans to add more machines and expand the machine room as new projects come online. The work involves standing for extended periods, working around running machinery, and lifting materials and parts up to 50 pounds while using standard precision tools such as micrometers and calipers.

This is a Contract position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
