Position Title: Pediatric Pathologist
Department: Pathology / Laboratory Medicine
Job Summary
The Pediatric Pathologist is a specialized physician responsible for diagnosing diseases in fetuses, infants, children, and adolescents through the examination of tissues, organs, and bodily fluids. This role combines expert laboratory analysis with clinical collaboration to provide accurate diagnoses that guide patient management and treatment.
Key Responsibilities

Perform macroscopic and microscopic examination of pediatric tissue specimens, including biopsies, resections, and autopsies.

Provide accurate and timely diagnostic reports for pediatric surgical pathology, hematopathology, and cytopathology.

Collaborate with pediatricians, surgeons, oncologists, and other clinical teams to discuss findings and implications for patient care.

Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and tumor boards.

Oversee and ensure quality control in laboratory testing and procedures, adhering to regulatory and safety standards.

Interpret laboratory tests, including molecular and genetic studies, as relevant to pediatric conditions.

Engage in teaching and training of residents, fellows, medical students, and laboratory staff.

Contribute to clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and academic publications in pediatric pathology.

Maintain professional credentials and stay updated with advances in pediatric pathology and diagnostic techniques.
Qualifications

MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree with board certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).

Subspecialty training or fellowship in pediatric pathology preferred.

Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Pathology.

Strong diagnostic skills in pediatric surgical pathology, hematopathology, and cytopathology.

Knowledge of molecular pathology techniques and pediatric-specific disease processes.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.

Commitment to academic activities, teaching, and research.
