• MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center - Part-Time (no sign-on bonus)

This role involves executing intricate specialized tasks related to the operation of CT scanners and associated equipment, adhering to established radiation safety protocols. You will position patients for CT scans, utilizing immobilization and protective gear as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the radiologist during imaging procedures, including starting IVs and administering contrast when necessary.
• Assist in interventional CT procedures alongside the radiologist.
• Assess CT scans for technical quality, organize processed images in the correct exposure sequence, and ensure proper labeling. Transmit films to PACS.
• Accurately charge for procedures and supplies.
• Administer various chemical substances to enhance the visibility of specific organs or systems, including dispensing oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
• Review patient charts and requests with the radiologist to guarantee appropriate examinations and diagnostic outcomes.
• Conduct quality control on all images, manage inventory, and comply with safety regulations. Participate in training for department staff, including students.
• Operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
• Maintain precise patient records.
• Assist in orienting and training new CT technologists.
• Oversee scheduling and patient flow across multiple interventional CT scanners.
• Collaborate with CT equipment manufacturers on research and development for new software and technologies as needed.
• Engage in research initiatives and the formulation of research protocols.
• Monitor daily charging of CT procedures and supplies to ensure accuracy.
• Contribute to performance improvement efforts within and between departments.
• Receive patients and evaluate their conditions to determine appropriate handling and special needs. Prepare and explain the exam process to patients.
• Utilize extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to capture optimal diagnostic images of body parts.
• Attend all mandatory safety training sessions and articulate responsibilities related to general safety and specific job-related hazards.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEducation

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Current Maryland State License is required (for Clinton Location ONLY).

Licenses and Certifications

• ARRT certification is required.
• Certification as a Cat Scan Technologist is required.
• CPR certification (including BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross must be obtained within 90 days.
• Additional unit or specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

• Demonstrates competency in operating GE LightSpeed (16 slice) and GE VCT (64 slice) CT machines.
• Shows proficiency in HIS/RIS and PACS systems.
• Exhibits competency in using Medical Radiology Injectors.
• Completes radiation training competency.

Compensation

This position offers a salary range of USD $39.25 - USD $64.71 per hour.
