WORK STATUS : Licensed, Full-Time Exempt REPORTS TO : School Principal This position will focus on student academic success and preventative services for all students and will also provide intervention services for students identified academically, emotionally, or socially at-risk.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic Planning & Support Facilitate orientation sessions for new students. Facilitate placement testing and assist with test preparation for PSAT, ACT, AP, and Accuplacer exams. Collaborate with special education, Multilingual Learner (MLL), and 504 teams to ensure appropriate student accommodations. Meet regularly with MTSS teams to evaluate student progress and implement interventions. Oversee and assist with standardized testing programs (PSAT, ACT, AP, Accuplacer), in collaboration with Site Assessment Leader. Provide test preparation resources and guidance, in collaboration with Site Assessment Leader. Collect and analyze ICAP and assessment data to inform student interventions Communicate with teachers and staff regarding external obstacles affecting student progress. Submit weekly activity summaries for student entry and exit records Assist with supervisory duties, including lunch monitoring, athletic and extracurricular activities, dances, advisory programs, and field trips. Gather student interest data Competency tracking Establish, adapt, and maintain academic pathways with eye toward post-secondary Support with schedules and changes for students Attend and participate in MTSS meetings Assist with assessment prep and/or administering Collaboration with Family Liaison - Parent outreach Social-Emotional Support Work collaboratively with the behavior and mental health team to implement student support systems. Develop strategies that integrate academic success with social-emotional support. Conduct suicide risk assessments and threat assessments with the social worker. Participate in district-wide mental health initiatives and crisis response efforts.REQUIRED SKILLS
Implement the district comprehensive counseling framework Provide quality counseling services including academic counseling and emotional counseling Counsel, teach and work with a diverse population Work with incoming students and teachers around conflict mediation, bullying, peer mentors, and leadership training Develop positive, appropriate relationships with parents, staff and students and solve conflicts in a positive way Participation in staff development activities, staff meetings, and assigned duties Understanding of social-emotional support systems and curricula. Strong leadership skills and experience working with diverse groups (faculty, staff, students, and parents). Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication. Proactive relationship-building skills with students, staff, teachers, and families. Knowledge of developmental student needs and academic advising strategies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support student progress. Demonstrate commitment to the vision, mission, goals, and priorities of Sheridan School District 2. Contribute to the development and execution of the school improvement plan. Promote high expectations for student achievement. Assist in developing student learning objectives and success measures. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in all interactions.QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Licensing as a School Counselor as required by Colorado Department of Education Master's degree in counseling or psychology An understanding of standards-based grading Knowledge of students' interests, needs, and abilities with a commitment and dedication to students and education Ability to work well with others Ability to meet the emotional and academic needs of all studentsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
May include, standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings.CLEARANCE
Must clear online background check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation.SALARY
Placement on Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon previous teaching experience and highest degree and college credits earned after student teaching was completed. Current Board approved Licensed Teacher Salary Schedule and Salary Placement Policy are available for review on our district website at . The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.BENEFITS
