Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner

Locum tenens opportunity
Seeking a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Urgent Care experience
Start date: November 2026
Minimum of 2 years of urgent care experience or 1 year of emergency medicine experience required
Must be comfortable treating patients of all ages, including pediatrics (6 months and older)
Must be comfortable with orthopedic procedures, including splinting, and wound care
Schedule: Monday-Sunday, 8:00a-8:00p
Provider will travel between South Charleston, Charleston Patrick Street Bridge, and Charleston Kanawha City (sites are within approximately 30 miles of one another)
Must be comfortable practicing independently (no onsite supervision)
Average patient volume: 3-4 patients per hour
Typical urgent care cases include:
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Rashes
- Abrasions and lacerations
- Sprains
- Minor burns
- Splinting
- X-rays and EKGs
- Drawing blood and IVs
- Incision and drainage procedures
Higher-acuity patients are referred to the local emergency department
Medical assistants and radiology technologists onsite
Sites staffed by 1-3 providers daily
Remote physician available for consultation when no physician is onsite
EMR: Epic
