Program Manager, Project SEED

Washington DC, ACS, 1155 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20036, USA The Program Manager of Project SEED in the ACS Student Experiences leads ACS Project SEED Summer Program and scholarship operations, including disbursements and communication with students and university administration. The incumbent works with staff to ensure the needs of SEED students are addressed by ACS programs, products, and services. The position reports to the Sr Portfolio Manager of Student Experience and collaborates with internal units and external organizations as needed to advance ACS strategic interests and support other Student Experiences and ACS‑wide initiatives. Position Accountabilities Manages the day‑to‑day operations of Project SEED’s summer program in collaboration with the Student Experiences team. Manages the SEED project proposal lifecycle, including call for proposals, proposal review, feedback on proposals, student applications, award disbursement, record‑keeping, operational systems, and compliance. Collaboratively works with units to create, modify, facilitate, and support professional development and educational resources for SEED, ACS Scholarships, and LEADS stakeholders. Manages the collaborative implementation of policy, guidelines, and compliance for SEED coordinators, mentors, and reviewers, including the Youth Protection Policy. Manages the SEED Scholarships application and review life cycle with the SEED Committee, award disbursement, and supports relevant governance groups. May serve as liaison for special task forces or subcommittee working groups upon request. Education, Experience, & Technical Knowledge Bachelor’s degree and training/experience in chemistry or a closely related STEM field with experience in STEM research, grant management, editing, professional development, people and program management; advanced degree preferred. Minimum 7‑year related experience. Working knowledge of programming and editorial flows. Excellent communication, organizational, verbal, written, collaborative, data‑driven, and analytical skills desired. Strategic thinking, solution focus, responsibility, diligence, timeliness, responsiveness, and commitment are mandatory. Experience with facilitating workshops, leading strategic planning, and data management is a plus. Technical knowledge: Microsoft Office, application/review management systems (e.g., Foundant, Salesforce), research tools (Qualtrics), data analysis and visualization tools, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat. This position will be primarily based in the Washington, D.C. office. ACS employees work on a hybrid schedule—two days in the office and two days remote. New hires are eligible for this arrangement immediately. ACS offers relocation assistance if applicable. Some travel (approximately 2–4 trips a year) and occasional weekend work may be required. Salaries for this role range between $95,000 and $105,000 per year.
