Quality Control Lead

QC Lead / Quality Inspector Lead - Metal Fabrication

We're seeking an experienced QC Lead - Quality Inspector Lead for our metal fabrication client. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for someone who can roll up their sleeves and can lead a team of Quality Inspectors while remaining hands-on with daily inspections and quality control activities. The QC Lead will help ensure products meet established quality standards, perform as intended, and conform to specifications while providing day-to-day direction, training, and support to the inspection team.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and support Quality Inspectors with daily assignments and performance.
• Assign inspection duties, balance workloads, and ensure adequate coverage.
• Conduct team meetings to communicate quality standards, updates, and expectations.
• Train and onboard new inspectors on inspection procedures, tools, and company requirements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the inspection team and management.

Quality Inspection

• Perform and oversee visual inspections to identify defects such as scratches, dents, discoloration, and other quality issues.
• Perform and verify dimensional measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Conduct and oversee functional testing to ensure products meet required specifications.
• Complete final quality checks and approve inspection results prior to product release.
• Identify, document, and communicate quality issues to appropriate departments.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate inspection records, defect reports, and corrective-action documentation.
• Ensure inspectors follow company quality procedures and applicable standards.
• Prepare quality reports and communicate inspection findings to management.
• Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring quality issues.

Process Improvement & Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to identify and resolve quality issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve inspection processes, efficiency, and accuracy.
• Support internal and external quality audits as needed.
• Promote a strong culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift, move, and push up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing/metal fabrication environment.

Required Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a Quality Inspection Lead, Senior Inspector, or Supervisory Inspection role.
• Experience with dimensional measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Manufacturing or metal fabrication quality experience preferred.
