Youth Care Specialist - Emergency Shelter

KVC Missouri Ozark Family Resource Center - Emergency Shelter

Compensation: $17-$20.65 per hour, based on experience and education. Schedule: Full-time; Evening Shift Preferred Preferred Hours: 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. We are primarily seeking candidates who are available to work this shift; however, we welcome applicants with availability for other shifts as well. Please include all days and times you are available to work, if possible. Weekend availability is also greatly appreciated.

Job Summary:

The Youth Care Specialist is responsible for tending to the physical and emotional needs of children and youth residing in the Ozark Family Resource Center - Emergency Shelter. The YCS fosters a supportive and safe group living environment, ensuring that all clients receive the care and attention they need during their stay.

Provide for the physical and emotional needs of clients, including:

• Provide daily supervision and care to children and youth in the shelter.
• Attend to the physical needs of clients, including meals, hygiene, and healthcare requirements.
• Offer emotional support, helping clients manage stress and trauma.

Facilitate a healthy group living experience:

• Creating a positive and supportive environment
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment within the shelter.
• Ensure adherence to shelter rules and policies, addressing any behavioral issues with appropriate interventions

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalency
• Class E driver's license with good driving record
• Strong customer service focus
• Excellent time management
• Oral and written communication skills
• Word, Excel, and e-mail applications proficiency
