Role Specific Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust the plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide explanations and instructions regarding respiratory disease processes and intervention procedures to patients and their families, ensuring understanding prior to discharge.
• Be willing to accept reassignment to other units as necessary.
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and act as a role model for clinical practice.
• Plan, implement, and assess the effectiveness of respiratory care.
• Administer respiratory care as prescribed by the physician while maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff.

Education

• Associate's degree required.

Licenses and Certification

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Illinois State License
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program - Managed Healthcare (NRP-MHC)
