Deckhand (Boat Crew Member) August - November

Deckhand* Seasonal | August-November 2026 | Start Dates: Mid-August * This position pays a starting hourly wage of $17.05 and increases to $18.50 upon completion of training and deckhand sign off. Position Summary Shoreline Sightseeing is seeking dedicated, safety-focused Deckhands to join our Marine Crew for the 2026 season. As a Deckhand, you'll work closely with the Captain and fellow crew members to ensure smooth vessel operations and, most importantly, the safety and enjoyment of our passengers. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, thrive in a team environment, and are interested in gaining valuable maritime experience on Chicago's waterways. Key Responsibilities Assist the Captain with vessel operations and safety procedures Support docking, line handling, and passenger boarding/disembarking Perform light maintenance and general housekeeping aboard the vessel Uphold all safety and security standards in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations Understand and execute emergency procedures when needed Collaborate with the Marine Crew to deliver a seamless guest experience Greet and assist passengers, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the tour Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready vessel Qualifications U.S. citizenship required Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team Commitment to safety and exceptional guest service Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and climb ladders Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations Why Join Shoreline?
