Overview of the Role and Qualifications

Respiratory Therapy involves the evaluation and treatment of individuals experiencing both acute and chronic issues related to the cardiopulmonary system. Today's Respiratory Therapists have significant responsibilities in patient care and are essential members of the healthcare team. A comprehensive understanding of the cardiopulmonary system's pathophysiology and the intricate procedures necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment across all age groups is essential.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

• Under the guidance of the RT Supervisor or Team Leader, you will carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as prescribed by a physician.
• Your tasks will encompass administering medical gases, aerosol therapy, collecting and analyzing blood samples, conducting patient tests, operating and maintaining various respiratory and cardiopulmonary devices, providing mechanical ventilation, managing artificial airways, assisting in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, educating patients, and monitoring both equipment and patient responses to therapy.
• Additional duties will include documenting inpatient and departmental records, cleaning equipment, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications Required:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
• A valid Respiratory Therapist license from the State Board for Respiratory Care is required.
• NBRC CRT certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within six months of starting employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be acquired within 30 days of starting employment.
• NRP certification within six months of hire.
• Preferred: One year of recent clinical experience.
