POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide assistance to students and staff to help students function effectively in the school environment. Provide guidance and support in programming and development for students with self-regulation needs.


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide consultation to building student support teams and administration.
2. Support all students in the area of social, emotional and behavioral issues.
3. Maintain student files and required district paperwork as it relates to individual student needs.
4. Maintain data collection on support services provided to students as well as recordkeeping for restraint and seclusion.
5. Assist in designing and shaping behavioral interventions for both students and staff.
6. Provide staff development for district staff as it relates to this position.
7. Train staff on Minnesota requirements involving Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
8. Knowledge, awareness and training of Minnesota Statutes as it relates to behavior and restrictive procedures.
9. Facilitate meetings that may frequently involve a range of issues for the purpose of evaluating situations, identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations and/or implementing desired program changes.
10. Manage assigned programs and/or services for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to program objectives, and ensuring conformance with legal, financial and district requirements.
11. Participate in a variety of meetings as required (e.g. workshops, inter and intra district committees, community and public agencies, seminars, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out their coordination responsibilities.
12. Share resources and agency information with staff and families.
13. Act as school liaison with parent/family including home visits.
14. Assist with district program planning and projects for students with disabilities.
15. Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

Required:

1. Current Minnesota licensure in special education or related area appropriate to student level and program.
2. Experience working with students with challenging behaviors.
3. Ability to travel between sites as needed.
4. In depth knowledge of Minnesota State Statutes as it relates to behavior.
5. Competency in designing and implementing positive behavioral interventions and support.
6. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
7. Ability to utilize technology to support daily job functions.
8. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
9. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
