Overview Construction Estimator – Lead Commercial and Federal Bid Strategy for 8-koi. Location: Melbourne, FL (Travel Required). Salary/Pay Rate: $83,000 - $90,000. Employment Type: Full Time. Project Scope: Commercial, Industrial, Government, and Federal. Mandatory Licences & Certifications: None Required. The Opportunity You will serve as a strategic leader in the field operations division, driving the identification, preparation, and execution of comprehensive project bids. This role takes ownership of the estimation lifecycle from conceptual budgeting through final delivery while establishing key industry relationships. Your accuracy will directly dictate our competitive success. How You Will Make An Impact Manage all aspects of estimate preparation, revision, and submission for routine and complex proposals. Analyze blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical data to calculate accurate material, labor, and time requirements. Solicit, interview, and pre-qualify a robust database of highly capable subcontractors. Represent the company confidently in high-stakes preconstruction meetings with owners, architects, and engineers. Reconcile design developments back to conceptual budgets while engineering cost-saving alternatives. Mentor and develop junior members of the estimating staff to foster long-term technical growth. Execute thorough subcontractor buyouts and smooth project turnover processes to the field team. Required Qualifications & Experience Extensive experience in conceptual estimating across both negotiated and hard-bid environments. Proven track record with Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) estimating and book cost methods like RS Means. Thorough, practical knowledge of the strict RFP and RFQ proposal processes. Strong background evaluating subcontractor proposals relative to commercial and federal scopes of work. Ability to research local building codes, permit compliance requirements, and establish realistic project durations. Preferred Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. 5 to 10 years of dedicated electrical, controls, or general commercial construction estimating experience. Established regional network of commercial and federal subcontractor contacts. Experience with creating construction cost estimates for engineering designs.
