Finance Manager

ROLE DESCRIPTION The Finance Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing MOCAD’s financial management and supporting operational effectiveness across the organization. This position is responsible for financial planning and reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, grant financial administration, payroll oversight, compliance, audit coordination, and partnership with external accounting providers. Working closely with the Co-Director and Chief Operating Officer and department staff, the Finance Manager will: Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, dashboards, forecasts, and financial projections. Provide financial reporting and analysis to leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors. Manage organizational cash flow, bank balances, restricted funds, wire transfers, and cash projections. Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks and oversee monthly and year-end reconciliations. Process and record invoices, cash receipts, journal entries, credit card activity, and check disbursements. Support annual budgeting and monitor performance against budget. Provide variance analysis and recommendations to leadership and department managers. Manage financial components of grant applications and reporting. Oversee payroll processing before final approval by the COO. Coordinate annual audit preparation in partnership with the Museum’s CPA. Ensure timely 1099 reporting, sales tax filings, and other governmental compliance requirements. Strengthen financial procedures, internal controls, and administrative systems. Coordinate contract administration, insurance renewals, employee benefits renewals, and related compliance matters. Serve as a financial advisor to leadership and support long-term organizational sustainability. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is preferred. At least five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, or financial management. Proficiency with computerized accounting systems, including QuickBooks. Demonstrated experience with budgeting, fiscal management, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting. Experience preparing financial information for leadership, committees, boards, and non-financial audiences. Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and communication skills. Sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential financial, employee, and organizational information. Strong attention to accuracy, documentation, deadlines, and compliance. Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments and with external partners. Knowledge of nonprofit or museum finance, operations, grants, and compliance is preferred. Familiarity with Apple OSX and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Genuine interest in contemporary art and community-centered cultural work. Ability to work in a hybrid environment with regular on-site presence and occasional evening or weekend hours. #J-18808-Ljbffr
