The Department of Biological Sciences ( is one of four departments in the College of Science. Our faculty is a community of scholars dedicated to teaching and research in the life and environmental sciences. Position Overview The Horn Laboratory in The BioDiscovery Institute and Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team. Our lab broadly focuses on characterizing molecular processes and engineering lipid-based bioproducts in plant systems. This position will investigate the role of lipid remodeling in cotton stress and recovery resilience. This research will advance both fundamental insights into cotton physiology and biochemistry as well as contributing to potential applications in cotton breeding and molecular engineering. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in plant biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field. Peer-reviewed publications in plant biochemistry. Prior research experience in lipids, redox biochemistry, proteomics, and plant molecular biology. Ability to design and conduct experiments both independently and collaboratively as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience with stress phenotyping in cotton and/or other crop systems. Programming skills and/or working with protein analysis software are desired. Strong scientific writing and communication skills are highly desired. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Job Duties Plan and conduct experiments in consultation with Dr. Horn. Conduct experiments in accordance with all regulatory and safety policies. Make scientific observations, keep excellent records of data and interpretations. Prepare manuscripts for publication and scientific reports based on experimental results. Prepare presentations or presentation materials of results in support of projects.
