Due Diligence Investigator

Location: Houston, TX (In office, 5 days a week, Monday - Friday, 8AM to 5PM) Compensation: $22/hour Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role: Do you enjoy researching a topic until you understand the full story? Are you the person who notices when something doesn't quite add up, digs a little deeper, and connects the dots that other people might miss? We are looking for a Due Diligence Investigator to join a growing investigative team. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who is naturally curious, highly detail-oriented, and enjoys research, reading, and writing. As a Due Diligence Investigator, you'll research companies and individuals , gather information from a variety of sources, identify important facts and potential red flags, and turn your findings into clear, concise investigative reports. You don't need years of investigative experience to be successful here. In fact, we've had success with candidates coming from backgrounds such as History, English, Criminal Justice, Law, Political Science, and other research- or writing-intensive fields. If you enjoy putting together the pieces of a puzzle and figuring out what the information is really telling you, this could be a great fit. What You'll Do: Conduct detailed research on individuals and companies using public records, databases, court records, news sources, online resources, and other investigative tools Research and analyze information to identify relevant facts, inconsistencies, connections, and potential red flags Review large amounts of information and determine what is important to the investigation Connect information from multiple sources to develop a clear picture of the subject being investigated Prepare accurate, well-written investigative reports summarizing your findings Research court records, corporate records, business information, and other publicly available sources Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail across multiple investigations Manage several investigations simultaneously while meeting established deadlines Handle sensitive and confidential information professionally Work independently while collaborating with senior investigators and the broader team Communicate findings clearly and effectively through written reports What We're Looking For: We're less concerned with having the "perfect" background and more interested in how you think . The ideal candidate is: Naturally curious and enjoys digging into information Highly detail-oriented and able to spot inconsistencies or connections A strong reader who can work through large amounts of information A capable writer who can clearly explain what they found Analytical and comfortable piecing together information from multiple sources Organized and able to manage multiple investigations at once Comfortable working independently and asking thoughtful questions when needed Interested in investigative research, criminal justice, business, law, history, or related fields Professional and trustworthy when handling confidential information Education & Experience: A bachelor's degree is preferred, particularly in fields such as: History Criminal Justice Law / Pre-Law Political Science Business Journalism Or another research- or writing-focused discipline Relevant investigative, research, court records, legal, compliance, or public records experience is a plus, but is not required. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career in investigative research. You'll receive approximately one week of initial training before transitioning to work alongside a Senior Investigator. Investigators typically begin by handling approximately 3–5 investigative units per day , researching 3–5 individuals or companies depending on the assignment. As you develop your investigative skills and experience, there is a clear path for advancement to Senior Investigator , where you'll take on more complex investigations and a higher daily workload.
