Nearest Major Market: Austin Division: Solutions Job Posting Title: Compliance Specialist, Dangerous Goods Time Type: Full Time Travel: 50% travel required (25-30% travel as needed) Position Summary We are seeking a highly specialized Logistics & Dangerous Goods Expert to oversee the safe handling, storage, and global distribution of lithium batteries. This role is critical in ensuring our warehouse operations and outbound shipments comply with stringent international and domestic regulations. The ideal candidate is a technical authority on lithium battery classifications and possesses the certifications required to sign off on multi-modal transport documents. Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: Serve as SME for all lithium battery shipping regulations (UN3480, UN3481, UN3090, UN3091). Prepare and validate all DG documentation, including Shipper's Declarations, IMO Declarations, and Bill of Lading. Monitor changes in global regulations (IATA, IMDG, DOT) and update internal SWIs. Multi‑Modal Transportation Management: Air – Ensure 100% compliance with IATA DGR, State and Operator variations, SoC limits, and passenger vs. cargo-only restrictions. Ocean – Manage shipments under IMDG Code, ensuring proper segregation and placarding. Road – Oversee domestic ground transport per 49 CFR, managing Excepted vs. Fully Regulated shipments and ensuring driver credentials. Internal Warehouse & Storage Safety: Design and maintain specialized storage zones, implement segregation protocols, establish the Damaged, Defective, or Recalled handling areas, conduct audits of racking, labeling, and packaging. Training & Supervision: Develop and deliver DG awareness training for warehouse staff, audit packing lines to ensure correct use of UN‑specification packaging. Qualifications & Certifications Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business or related field, OR minimum 5 years experience in supply chain managing dangerous goods. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace. Certificates & Licenses: Minimum of 5 years logistics or warehouse experience focusing on high‑density lithium battery storage. Must hold IATA DGR (Category 1 or 6), IMDG Code, and 49 CFR/DOT Hazmat certifications. Mathematical Skills: Good mathematical skills. Other Skills: Experience with Lithium Battery Safety Systems, EHS management, proficiency in WMS with DG integration, customs management software, auditing, and communication. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with UN 38.3 Testing Summaries and ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets. Compensation Expected base pay range: $85,000.00 – $97,000.00.
