Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse provides specialized perioperative nursing care to cardiovascular patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires expertise in both scrub and circulating functions within a high-volume, technologically advanced Hybrid Cath Lab environment. The nurse collaborates closely with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a smaller hospital setting. Responsibilities:

• Perform scrub nurse duties during cardiovascular surgical procedures, maintaining sterile field and surgical instruments.
• Perform circulating nurse duties, managing the overall environment of the operating room and patient care.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care to cardiovascular patients.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Prepare the Hybrid Cath Lab with necessary supplies and equipment for cardiovascular surgeries.
• Monitor patient status continuously throughout intraoperative phases.
• Document nursing care and surgical events accurately and timely.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in Colorado or Compact License eligible for Colorado practice.
• Minimum of 2 years high-volume intraoperative RN experience in CVOR.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficiency in both scrub and circulating roles within the CVOR setting.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Hybrid Cath Lab or similar advanced cardiovascular surgical environment.
• Familiarity with the latest cardiovascular surgical technologies and equipment.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Special Considerations:

• Work is performed exclusively within the Hybrid Cath Lab, not the general operating room.
• Must be able to handle high-pressure situations in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Ability to work in a smaller hospital setting located in a mountainous region.

Scheduling:

• Shift schedules may vary based on surgical case volume and hospital needs.
• Typically includes day shifts with potential for occasional extended hours depending on surgical schedule.
