GRO Maternity Program - House Lead Wesley Inn Location Oak Cliff Campus - Monday through Friday[...]

Overview PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE: Manage the daily operations of the GRO ensuring that the GRO remains in compliance of all licensing and policies/procedures (TDFPS Licensing, TDFPS Minimum Standards (GRO), TDFPS Contracts, and Emergency Shelter’s Policies and Procedures). Manage the Residential Care Specialist ensuring that they are providing the best care to the residents, following proper protocol, interacting favorably with staff, visitors, and volunteers. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in providing direct childcare in a residential or daycare setting. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have access to reliable and safe transportation for self. Maintain a working telephone or other reliable means of communication so that you are accessible to Emergency Shelter Manager or Director of Programs. Must maintain a current drivers’ license and favorable driving record as condition of employment. Must be willing to transport agency residents. Must have a negative Pre-Employment & Random drug testing (pd by JP). Must have a negative Pre-Employment TB test or chest x-ray (pd by JP). Must pass a pre-employment background check (including CBC, Texas Department of Public Safety’s criminal history database, DFPS Central Registry abuse/neglect and the FBI fingerprint if they have lived outside the state of Texas within the last five years). Must be of high moral, ethical and professional character. Knowledge of child development and behavior management. Ability to spend long periods of time standing, bending, stooping, and walking around the facility supervising the activities and movement of staff and children. Must be willing to accompany children on field trips that require the physical stamina to walk at least a mile. (If applicable) Able to climb stairs repeatedly. Ability to lift at least 20 pounds. Willingness and ability to manage and work effectively with staff and co-workers. Teamwork and cooperation with staff and co-worker’s mandatory. Mature judgment and an ability to act in an independent, responsible manner in all matters relating to the management of staff and the care and safety of children. Ability to engage and effectively communicate with persons from diverse cultures and communities, as well as from different groups, including children, their parents, agency colleagues, CPS staff, support staff members, supervisors, administrators, and persons from the legal and judicial system. Present a good public presence. Skills in organizing work in a responsible way within an environment with multiple challenges, priorities and time frames. Job Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge of and compliance with TDFPS Minimum Standards and GRO Policies and Procedures. Ensure GRO follows Licensing and Contract requirements and Emergency Shelter Policies and Procedures. Assist with implementation of corrective action plans required by Licensing and Contracts. Report promptly at the start of the assigned shift and remain on shift prepared to provide supervision of children and RCPs, as required by emergency. Duties must be conducted without interruption from outside sources. Know and enforce GRO procedures ensuring that the hourly activities/operations of childcare functions are being carried out in compliance with licensing standards, contracts, and emergency GRO policies and procedures. Always maintain and safeguard the confidentiality of resident information. Responsible for your own personal safety, your staff, your co-workers, and others that might enter your work area. Supervise the general interaction between staff and children encouraging positive reinforcement, in the techniques taught in the taught in the EBI (Emergency Behavior Intervention) training. Report all maintenance requests to COO. Participate in shift meetings and in-service training. Assist Program Manager with ensuring all staff annual evaluations are completed. Monitoring the house with a maximum of 12 females and babies. Ensure that all the basic needs of each client have been met including medical, dental, nutritional, clothing etc. Knowledge of and compliance with Minimum Standards and Policies and Procedures. Assist with implementation of corrective actions plans. Assist clients in the development of menus, meal preparation, leisure time usage, and individual schedules (work, school, daycare, chores, etc.). Development of implementation of life skills modules into weekly routine. Know and enforce procedures ensuring that the hourly activities/operation of the residents. are being carried out in compliance. Always maintain and safeguard the confidentiality of resident information. Responsible for your own personal safety, your staff, your co-workers, and others that might enter your work area. Supervise the general interaction between staff and residents encouraging positive reinforcement, in the techniques taught. Report all maintenance requests to COO. Participate in shift meetings, monthly meetings, and in-service training. Ensure that staff is adhering to and signing off on the meal menu and chores. Ensure all residents’ schedules (chores, laundry sheet etc.) are put out in a timely manner. Assist with laundry, bed linen, bathroom, kitchen, dining room etc. Ensure that staff adheres to the housekeeping duties checklist. Ensure continuity of care for the residents by assuring that all MGH are conducting proper shift change procedures; verbal, written, emailed and printed in placed in shift logbook. Communicate with any staff, residents, and volunteer concerns. Ensure the house is always clean and safe. Responsible for supplies of the house included groceries, cleaning supplies, personal supplies etc. Ensure that all residents follow rules set by the program. Maintain a professional relationship with all residents. Communicate weekly with the Case Manager regarding residents’ progress. Attend all agency trainings. Seek Additional Training As It Relates To Job Duties. Ensure logs are set-up and completed daily for each resident (Medication Log, Visitation Log). Monitor the completeness and quality of daily logs and shift notes log. Ensure daily shift notes and log are completed and emailed in a timely manner. Ensure to take inventory of supplies (diapers, cleaning products, food, etc.) every week. Keep all chemical products locked away (to ensure child safety). Ensure sanitary disposal of diapers, food and other products. Ensure that all trash cans are emptied and taken to trash dumpster prior to leaving shift (indoor and outdoor) and put a trash bag liner in the trash can. Ensure that the clothing closet and other storage areas are kept organized and maintained. Ensure that all doors are lock. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrate knowledge of computer programs and databases including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Publisher), Internet Explorer, and Kaleidacare. Must have working knowledge of the Internet and ability to correspond via e-mail. Must have excellent time management and organizational skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent telephone etiquette skills. Ability to present the organization with a professional image. Ability to speak with self-confidence. Ability to produce professional correspondence and presentations. Ability to problem solve and work independently. Ability to meet deadlines for agency. Ability to work as a team player and work effectively with other agency employees, outside visitors, and volunteers. Ability to mentor staff supervising the behaviors required to complete job requirements in a professional and effective manner. Ability to adopt plans to residents changing needs; must be flexible. Certification / Licenses / Trainings Obtain 50 hours of CEU’s – Annually. Emergency Behavior Intervention Training – Bi-Annually (4 hours every 180 days). Current CPR/First Aid Certification (Renew prior to expiration date). Transporting Children Safely in Child Care (2.0 hours). Pre-Employment Orientation (8 hours). Pre-Employment General Pre-service (8 hours). Pre-Employment Emergency Behavior Intervention Training (8 hours).
