Grady Health System is seeking a Full-Time Radiologic Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team and provide high-quality radiographic imaging services for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations. Under the direction of the Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures across multiple clinical settings while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to established imaging protocols.
This role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images that support accurate physician interpretation while maintaining efficient workflow within the Radiology Department. - Prepare examination rooms to ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and hygiene standards prior to patient procedures.
- Ensure accurate patient identification using two approved identifiers and utilize the AIDET communication framework during all patient interactions.
- Track patients from the beginning of each procedure through exam completion to ensure accurate workflow and documentation.
- Process, transfer, and archive images utilizing the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and reconcile daily exceptions to ensure exam accuracy.
- Evaluate radiographic images for technical quality and verify that demographic data, including medical record numbers and accession numbers, are accurate.
- Apply appropriate lead markers to designate right (R) or left (L) orientation and include technologist initials on all radiographic images.
- Maintain radiographic and digital imaging equipment by performing routine quality control checks and calibrations in accordance with manufacturer standards.
- Clean and inspect radiographic rooms and equipment after each use and promptly report equipment malfunctions or repair needs to supervisory staff.
- Assist with patient scheduling and support productive departmental workflow.
- Ensure procedure and examination rooms remain adequately stocked at the end of each shift.
- Assist with the training and development of Radiology staff and students as assigned.
- Practice radiation protection techniques using beam restriction devices, patient shielding methods, and appropriate exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited Radiography Program required.
- Registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must obtain ARRT certification within six (6) months of hire.
