Senior Inland Marine Underwriter – Leading P&C Insurance Carrier Location: Hybrid – Houston, TX, New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA. About the Role: Our client is seeking a Senior Inland Marine Underwriter to join their team with scope to work on national accounts. Based in Houston, Los Angeles or New York City, this role will focus on underwriting complex inland marine risks across a variety of classes, including construction, transportation, equipment, and specialty property floaters. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical acumen, market insight, and a broker-focused approach to drive profitable growth in this high-demand segment. Key Responsibilities: Underwriting & Risk Selection: Evaluate new and renewal business for inland marine exposures, analyzing risk characteristics, pricing adequacy, and policy structure. Book Management: Maintain a disciplined and profitable portfolio while identifying opportunities for targeted growth across various inland marine product lines. Broker Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale and retail brokers to increase submission flow, win rate, and client satisfaction. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with claims, loss control, and actuarial teams to structure tailored risk solutions that align with underwriting guidelines and market trends. Market Engagement: Stay informed on competitive intelligence, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to adapt underwriting strategy and maintain a leadership position in the marketplace. Client Representation: Represent the company at industry conferences, broker meetings, and client visits to promote brand awareness and deepen market presence. What We’re Looking For: Experience: 5+ years of underwriting experience in inland marine or related commercial property lines, with a focus on construction, transportation, or equipment. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of inland marine coverages, exposures, and pricing strategies. Market Acumen: Familiarity with wholesale and retail distribution channels, particularly in the Southeast region. Communication Skills: Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities with brokers and internal stakeholders. Education: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field preferred.
