Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and NRP certification for night shift coverage.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
• 16-bed L&D unit with an average daily census of 15, plus a 6-bed L&D Triage area
• Patient population includes neonates, infants, and adults
• Facility performs 200-300 births per month
• Typical patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Epic EMR experience required, along with use of Pyxis and SBAR communication
• 3 weekend shifts required per contract
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• On-call requirement of 2 calls per 6 weeks for AM and PM shifts
• Scrubs provided by the facility

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
• AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including vaginal deliveries, C-sections, high-risk deliveries, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with postpartum care including cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum services
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-section procedures
• Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and antepartum assessments
• Provide breastfeeding and lactation support to postpartum patients
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with RTO blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous employees must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before applying as a traveler
