Pediatric experience preferred. Description: The facility has a total of 127 inpatient beds. The department typically staffs 7 respiratory therapists during the day and 5 at night. Each therapist can administer between 40-70 treatments per day. The facility primarily serves adult patients but has a pediatric inpatient unit and a family birthing unit. Respiratory therapists cover all inpatient areas, as well as the emergency department. They also perform inpatient and outpatient EKGs and bronchoscopy in a procedural setting. Work may involve initiating CPAP for infants, with training available for pediatric cases. Responsibilities include administering breathing treatments, managing ventilators, drawing and running ABG samples, and performing EKGs. Core respiratory therapists may place arterial lines and cover EKG services for areas assigned. The unit can have as many as 8-9 ventilated patients in the ICU simultaneously. A point system is used to assign areas, ensuring equitable workload distribution. Travelers are not responsible for critical care transports outside of the facility. Respiratory therapists will assist with intubations but are not required to perform them independently. There is a supervising lead therapist available for support and questions. Set schedules are created four weeks in advance, with weekend work required every other weekend. Therapists are expected to work holidays if they fall on their scheduled workdays, with only Christmas and New Year's being recognized. There is no call or standby call requirement, and floating is limited to within the facility. Professional scrubs of any color are permissible, and a clean, professional appearance is mandatory. The facility utilizes multiple types of respiratory equipment, including specific brands for ventilators and high-flow devices. Clientists are on-site 24/7, along with multiple pulmonologists and physician residents who may perform intubations. Travelers will undergo skill assessments upon arrival to ensure proper assignments.
