Obstetric (OB) Registered Nurse (RN)

An experienced Obstetric Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to provide comprehensive care in Labor and Delivery (L&D), Mother-Baby, Newborn Nursery, and Couplet Care. The clinic currently averages 15-17 births per month and requires a flexible RN who is adept at handling multiple responsibilities within these units.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for laboring patients, including triage assessments and mother-baby care.
• Collaborate effectively with Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
• Conduct initial assessments of newborns, ensuring validation by the RN.
• Assist in Gynecology surgery care as needed.
• Monitor and evaluate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) data.
• Facilitate patient comfort and support, including repositioning and answering questions.
• In the event of emergencies, collaborate with the LPN to manage patient transitions to the operating room as necessary.
• Float to Medical-Surgical units when required, assisting with vital signs, medication administration, and other non-critical tasks if comfortable.
• Engage with the Transfer Coordinator (house supervisor) for additional support when necessary.

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and Fetal Heart Monitoring.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and unit dynamics.

Additional Information

This position may involve shift cancellations once every two weeks as part of unit policies. The RN will work collaboratively within a small unit, promoting a supportive and resource-rich environment for both staff and patients.
