Job Title: Private Duty Nurse (1-on-1 Student LPN) – Must have vent/trach experience

Location: Charles County, MD

Hours: Day shift, M-F, 5x8

Pay: $41/hour

Start: August 24, 2026

Summary of Position: 

 

NOTE: YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED TO ONE STUDENT (FULL SCHOOL YEAR) FOR THIS ROLE. The private duty nurse provides all the primary care of one single student from when the student

arrives at school until the student departs from school. The PDN may accompany the student to help enable them to attend school-sponsored and/or school-funded programs outside of school and/or outside of the school day.

 

Requirements:

·         Current LPN licensure in the state of Maryland

·         Covid vaccination, or weekly testing if not vaccinated

·         2 years of Pediatric nursing experience

 

Essential Functions:

·         Essential functions may vary based on the assigned patient

o   Urinary catheterizations

o   Suctioning and reinsertion of tracheotomy tube

o   Assess temperature, pulse, respirations, pulse oximeter, and pain status

o   Ensuring wheelchair safety

o   Assess neurological mental status, ton, patient baseline eye contact, sound response, facial expressions, and speech changes

o   Assesses atypical heart rhythm and sounds, capillary refill, edema, and skin color

o   Document all interventions performed and response to interventions

o   Monitor for seizure activity

o   Clean and place hearing aides as directed

o   Medication administration and management including observation for adverse reactions, response or lack of response to medication and informing the parent/ guardian, and their supervisor, about the negative reaction(s) to the medications

o   Ostomy care

o   Gastronomy and Ileostomy care

o   Oxygen administration, and ventilator care

o   Enteral (tube) feedings; assess for signs of feeding intolerance

o   Other treatments ordered by the physician, physician’s assistant (PA), or nurse practitioner and outlined in Plan of Care

o   Continuous glucose monitoring, diabetic pump monitoring and compliance with doctor’s orders for diabetic care.

o   Collaboration with the student’s primary physician regarding all medical/mental health related medically necessary
