Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of L&D experience and willingness to float to Medical/Surgical units.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:30-07:00)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Required to float to Medical/Surgical floors in rotation with full-time staff
• Uses Centricity charting system
• Community hospital experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM, and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Prior Medical/Surgical experience preferred and must be comfortable floating to MS
• Experience with Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum couplet care preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, and use of infusion pumps
• Experience with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulating, scrubbing, and recovery
• Proficient in fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal heart monitoring and IUPC placement
• Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage, couplet care, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Skilled in newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
• Two supervisor references from within the last 3 years of employment required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn stages
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives as needed
• Support breastfeeding and lactation, including use of electric/manual breast pumps
• Assist with pain management including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
• Must work 3 of the 5 winter holidays
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for positive results
• Facility housing available
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible for the travel position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Located in Kerrville, Texas, known as Texas wine country, about an hour from San Antonio
