What You'll Do

As the Associate HR Business Partner, you will:

• Partner with HR leadership to support strategic and day-to-day Human Resources operations.
• Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee performance, development, and workplace concerns.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex employee relations issues, investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective actions.
• Support union-related matters, including interpretation and consistent application of collective bargaining agreements.
• Assist with complex leave of absence and accommodation cases while ensuring compliance with California employment laws.
• Ensure consistent interpretation and application of HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
• Lead cross-functional HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyze HR metrics and trends to support data-driven decision making.
• Partner with managers and employees to resolve sensitive workplace issues with professionalism, discretion, and empathy.
• Support compliance efforts, audits, reporting, and policy updates.
• Maintain employee records within the HRIS and assist with employee questions related to benefits, payroll, attendance, time off, and HR policies.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Help cultivate a positive, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience in an HR Business Partner or similar role.
• Experience coaching managers and employees through complex and sensitive workplace issues.
• Strong knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent employee relations, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, including intermediate to advanced Excel.
• Experience working with HRIS systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

• PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
• Experience supporting a unionized workforce.
