The Registered Nurse (RN) will use nursing assessment skills on a multitude of patients ranging from infant to geriatric populations in both inpatient and outpatient environments. The RN will care for patients receiving diagnostic imaging scans and undergoing complex radiologic procedures through detailed nursing assessments and recovery after the procedure. Candidates must be flexible and able to adjust to a rapidly changing environment and work with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, technologists, nurses, and others. Experience in IV starts, procedures, nursing assessment, recovering patients from sedation, and cardiac monitoring is preferred but not required. Registered Nurse Responsibilities The RN is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification. Qualifications Graduate of a nursing program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). One year of professional RN experience is required. BSN preferred. Recent ICU/PCU/PACU experience in the last 3–5 years and/or Monitoring/Sedation experience preferred in the last 3–5 years. Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on‑call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills. License or Certification Must obtain prior to start date: Current RN license by applicable state requirements. BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include American Heart Association (AHA)/Heartcode, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers). ACLS/PALS preferred; ACLS will be required in the future. Compensation The pay range is $42.44 – $65.44 per hour. Schedule Full‑time, eight‑hour shifts. Shift start times range from 06:30 to 10:30 am. Closing shifts begin at 4 pm. Self‑scheduling with one holiday every four years, two weekends per year, eight closing shifts per year. Limited overtime may be required for patient care.
