About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: BSN required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Chest tube experience preferred - Pain management experience - TPN experience - CBI experience - Wound care experience - Charge nurse experience is a plus Description: The department includes 30 private beds with an average census of 20 patients. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-6. Common diagnoses/types of patients include dementia, post-surgical care, falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, cancer patients, and COVID. Charge nurses will take patients and may have to work charge if they have the experience. There are generally 2-3 nursing aides available on the unit. Respiratory therapy equipment is available, including CPAP, with RT managing the equipment. Tele-monitoring is conducted on the floor, and monitor technicians will be present to assist. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours from 7 PM to 7 AM, with no self-scheduling. Weekend requirements typically consist of every third weekend, but flexibility is requested based on needs. Holiday requirements include working every third holiday, with the expectation to work during one of the winter holidays. There is no call or standby requirement unless a request is made for a scheduled shift off or if a volunteer cancels. Nurses may float to a PCU for MedSurg overflow or very low acuity PCU patients. The dress code allows any solid color, with no patterns or designs. A nursing department orientation of two days will take place along with one day on the floor.
