Position: Compliance Coordinator Location: Clarkston, WA Reports to: Operations Manager Pay Range: $43,200-$59,9000 Relocation: No Visa Sponsorship: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Position Overview Responsible for the compliance of new and existing products to all applicable marine industry boat construction standards and internal best practices. This role is primarily responsible for compliance and regulatory adherence, with secondary support to quality functions. At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver. Essential Functions Review product safety/compliance requirements and ensure integration of those requirements to the product line. Own the Product Audit Program, including audit planning, execution, reporting, and continuous improvement of audit effectiveness. Report and track safety critical and compliance issues to ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions and their continued conformity Authority to elevate and/or halt production when critical compliance or safety risks are identified Ensure that all products are audited in a timely and efficient manner per the audit rates established for each boat model Provide input of product audit findings to new model integration and ensure inspections are conducted on the first ten vessels that run through the manufacturing process Routinely participate in plant wide inspections for overall assurance of policy acceptance. This may include travel to other locations within the company outside of the auditor’s immediate purview. Maintain direct and frequent interface with other Brunswick Boat Group manufacturing facilities to ensure consistency with the guidelines of the program Maintain information and stay current on all applicable global industry standards including but not limited to those established by the CFR/USCG, ABYC, EPA, CARB, ISO/CE, Transport Canada, and Australia Process and submit applications to NMMA, IMCI, CARB, Transport Canada, and other applicable agencies for certification of all boat models annually Regularly interface with the manufacturing and engineering groups and keep all parties up to date on changes to industry standards and regulation changes. Track product safety/compliance non-conformities and ensure corrective action by plants. Teach plant personnel product safety/compliance non-conformity recognition. Develop and maintain complete compliance documentation/books for all new and existing products to support certification and audit readiness. Participate in engineering drawing reviews and provides feedback Regularly review applicable data points such as service bulletins, past product audits, warranty info, consumer/dealer feedback, engineering change notices (ECN), corrective actions, vendor approval process etc. to enhance and improve the audit function. Support manufacturing and customer service on issues resolution as needed Coordinate vendor approvals of compliance critical items for all new products Participate in water tests and sea trials as needed to perform compliance testing on new product Maintain ABYC Membership and participate in the technical committees as a manufacturing representative Coordinate and present technical training to production personnel on all necessary marine construction standards. Provide support for investigating quality issues, escalating problems when needed and recommendations for improvements or product dispositions. Ensure the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are in place for quality processes. Participate in monthly quality meetings with department heads. Monitor departmental check off sheets with Quality Tech looking for trends of concerns or safety infractions. Conduct support for the auditing and inspections of the boats. Participate in all phases of new product development, especially Concept Development, Design Validation and Production Process Validation. Support quality and compliance training for new recruits and ensure process changes are implemented correctly. Support process improvement efforts. Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way. Required Qualifications Associates or bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Quality) or related discipline preferred, or equivalent experience is required ABYC Standards Accreditation Course and NMMA Compliance Specialist Certification preferred or be able to obtain within one year. Experience and Skills Minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience at a boat production facility working with Marine Industry Regulations or similar regulated manufacturing environment (automotive, RV, powersports, or aerospace) preferred Previous experience interfacing with outside vendors Experience performing quality audits Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail Must interface well with other employees and departments throughout Brunswick Boat Group as well as outside vendors, dealers, and retail customers Proven problem solving and decision-making abilities Working knowledge of PC based software (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, AS400 etc.) CAD Software experience preferred (Unigraphics/NX, Rhinoceros, AutoCAD, or similar) Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills Boating experience desired Must be willing to work extra hours required to assure timely completion of critical projects Must be willing to travel (minimum 10%) and have ability to remain productive and efficient if working remotely Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The hiring range for this position is$43,200-$59,9000__annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
