Overview Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D Data Science is recruiting for a Principal Scientist, Data Science. The primary location for this position is flexible – Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; or San Diego, CA. Johnson & Johnson is a global leader in healthcare innovation. This role defines the vision and execution strategy for data products within Medical Imaging and Digital Media, advancing next-generation, data-driven capabilities that enable scalable insights across therapeutic and disease areas. The role will lead cross-functional workstreams with therapeutic and disease area teams and drive modernization of imaging data ecosystems. A strong foundation in medical imaging is essential, with the ability to translate complex, multi-modal imaging data into actionable data products and clinically relevant insights. Learn more about Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine at Responsibilities Define Data Product Vision: Articulate an end-to-end strategy for imaging data products from ingestion to consumption. Drive Data Product Delivery: Lead development and scaling of medical imaging data products aligned to clinical trial and therapeutic needs. Enable Data Standards & Governance: Promote FAIR data principles and ensure regulatory, privacy, and ethical compliance. Partner with Domain Leaders: Translate business needs into scalable data product solutions with therapeutic and disease area teams. Lead Cross-functional Execution: Collaborate across data science, engineering, clinical, and external partners to deliver outcomes. Modernize Imaging Ecosystems: Transform imaging pipelines, platforms, and workflows for efficiency and scalability. Expand Data Product Portfolio: Grow imaging-focused data capabilities aligned to clinical development priorities. Education & Experience Education: Master’s degree required; PhD or equivalent preferred. Advanced degree in Imaging Health Sciences or related field. Background: Radiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Medicine, Medical Physics, or related field. Experience: 10+ years in medical imaging and multi-modal data environments. Skills: Strong experience building and scaling data products or data platforms; leadership in cross-functional and vendor collaborations; hands-on expertise in imaging data standards (e.g., DICOM), PACS, and multi-modal data pipelines; familiarity with AI/ML (computer vision) in imaging contexts; ability to translate imaging data into business and clinical value; strong stakeholder engagement.
