Qualifications can range from a high school diploma for entry-level positions to an associate or bachelor's degree in pastry arts for more advanced roles, along with strong technical skills, creativity, and attention to detail.Essential ResponsibilitiesCreation and preparation: Bake a wide variety of goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, and breads, following both traditional and new recipes.Decoration: Decorate desserts with frostings, glazes, and toppings to create visually appealing presentations.Menu development: Contribute ideas for new dishes and create custom desserts.Inventory and ordering: Check and order ingredients and supplies for the pastry section.Kitchen management: Maintain a clean and hygienic work area and manage kitchen staff.Record-keeping: Keep accurate records of food costs and inventory.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesHigh school education or equivalent experience.
