PCU RN Requirements

Active Virginia RN License

Minimum 2 years of recent PCU nursing experience within the past 4 years

Current BLS American Heart Association (AHA)

Current ACLS American Heart Association (AHA)

Current QuantiFERON-TB Gold test within the past 12 months

COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption

Additional credentials may be required based on the hospital assignment.

Responsibilities

As a PCU RN, you will:

• Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in an acute care hospital setting
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and other specialized equipment required for PCU patients
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records
• Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety guidelines
• Provide patient and family education
• Adapt professionally to different hospital environments and unit needs
