Registered Nurse, Per Diem - Infusion (Berkeley)

Job Overview The UCSF-John Muir Health Berkeley Outpatient Center offers convenient primary, specialty and outpatient surgical care in the East Bay. Urgent care, lab tests and imaging services are also available on-site. We collaborate with UCSF Health to provide the best possible care. The Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult infusion outpatient population. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer and non‑cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach for safe, therapeutic care, serves as a clinical resource, and demonstrates investment in forward movement of the unit and organization. Responsibilities Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; provides nursing care for patients with complex needs under supervision; assists with management of patient care administered by other team members. Maintains knowledge and abilities essential to duties, performs legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, and is accountable to the Manager for overall work performance. Required Qualifications Two years of recent RN adult clinical Oncology nursing experience. Two years of experience administering chemotherapy/biotherapy within the last five years. Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Active American Heart Association CPR Certification. Current Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification. Experience administering infusions, pain management, transfusion therapy, hydration, etc. Knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of duties. Demonstrates evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of complex patients such as oncology and a high degree of attention to detail. Demonstrates observational skills and the ability to set priorities; functions independently and effectively with shifting priorities and considerable pressure. Demonstrates effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management. Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff; contributes to team building through participation in unit programs and meetings; maintains positive morale, using constructive and effective conflict resolution skills. Demonstrates ability to remain current in professional and technical knowledge and apply this to the job; seeks opportunities for continual improvement in patient care and environment and commits to lifelong learning. Ability to function under stress and with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to delegate tasks in a style that promotes leadership and teamwork, seeking assistance as needed; demonstrates leadership experience that supports teamwork, professionalism, high‑quality patient experience, evidence‑based clinical practice, or other relevant topics. Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations. Preferred Qualifications OCN Certification. Experience administering chemotherapy/biotherapy.
