Veterans Home RN (PRN) – 36664 Agency: Department of Veterans Affairs – Michael J Fitzmaurice Veterans Home Location: Hot Springs, SD Compensation: $36.72 per hour (plus $5.00 per hour for night shifts, $1.00 per hour for PM shifts, and $1.50 per hour for weekend shifts). Pay Grade: N1 – N2 Schedule: As Needed, Sporadic (Part‑time) The Veterans Home RN is a vital member of the South Dakota Veterans Home team, providing professional nursing services in a long‑term care setting. Candidates will work within an environment focused on the health and wellbeing of veterans, ensuring the highest standard of care while maintaining a balanced work schedule. Licenses and Certifications Must hold a valid registered nurse license and be eligible to work in South Dakota. Ideal Candidate Registered Nurse License Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or 3‑year nursing diploma (new graduates welcome; on‑the‑job training available). All required certificates and/or tests completed. Knowledge Professional nursing theory and practices Recent developments in the field of professional nursing relevant to the assignment Clinical procedures Abilities Maintain accurate records Follow instructions effectively Operate a variety of medical equipment Report observations and create reports Apply general nursing techniques and practices Maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients Communicate effectively Collaborate effectively with patients and staff Successful applicants will be required to undergo a background investigation; an arrest or conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.
