Med Surg Tele Unit Registered Nurse RN

TriCities Hospital, part of the HCA Virginia Health System, is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Med Surg Tele Unit Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to adult medical-surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac and telemetry monitoring in a fast-paced acute care environment. Working closely with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, case managers, and support staff, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

As a Med Surg Tele RN, you will perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor cardiac rhythms on telemetry, recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, and safely administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products in accordance with hospital policies and clinical best practices. You will coordinate patient care throughout the hospital stay, collaborate on discharge planning, and provide thorough patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and home care needs. You will utilize strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and time-management skills to manage multiple patients, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

The nurse in this role will demonstrate proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of basic cardiac arrhythmias, post-surgical and medical patient management, and the use of relevant medical equipment and technology. You will actively contribute to a culture of safety by adhering to infection prevention standards, participating in bedside shift report, performing medication reconciliation, and following established protocols for falls prevention, pain management, and rapid response activation. You will also support quality improvement initiatives, core measure compliance, and hospital-wide patient experience goals.
