Principal Developer, Oncology Data & AI Systems (2 available)

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Principal Developer to lead oncology data and AI systems modernization across five locations. This role designs and builds scalable data pipelines, integrates multi-modal R&D datasets, and establishes governance frameworks to enable advanced analytics and machine learning applications.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Oncology R&D stakeholders to identify and deliver high-impact data and AI/ML use cases
• Design, build, and manage end-to-end data products including architecture, ETL/ELT, documentation, and operations
• Integrate and harmonize multi-modal data from clinical trials, biomarkers, genomics, and pre-clinical systems
• Translate scientific and operational requirements into scalable engineering solutions aligned with enterprise standards
• Implement data quality controls, monitoring frameworks, and governance practices including FAIR data principles

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years data engineering experience including data modeling, schema design, and database architecture
• Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for large-scale data processing and transformation
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, preferably AWS services like Redshift, Glue, or Lambda
• Experience with multiple data storage patterns including relational, NoSQL, and graph databases
• Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams on complex technical initiatives
• Strong stakeholder management and requirements translation skills
