Mechanical Engineering Intern

Redwire Space Missions team in Albuquerque, NM is innovating space mechanisms, multi‑payload launch adapters, structural testing, deployable composite booms, deployable space structures, R&D engineering, spacecraft thermal management components, and thermal analysis. With many more exciting projects on the horizon, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to help create breakthrough manufacturing technologies for space and terrestrial spin‑offs. We will provide an 8‑week internship (time frame may be modified based on your availability). During this period you will participate in hands‑on projects aligned with our company goals, fully immersing you in our technology and culture. Responsibilities Function as our SolidWorks PDM librarian. Create COTS fasteners and other common components in SolidWorks and import into PDM. Adhere to all company CAD workflows and approvals. Work on various project tasks under direction of senior engineering staff and mentors in Structures and Mechanisms. Operate our 3D printers in support of business development. Apply engineering principles in areas of design, manufacturing, and test. Generate technical documentation, reporting, and presentations of design, test, and analysis results following company format. Operate in a professional and courteous manner. Expect to learn and grow every day as part of our team. Ideal Experience Currently enrolled at a nationally accredited university or college, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related disciplines. Competent with 3D CAD modeling using SolidWorks. Must be able to obtain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations. Desired Skills Passionate about the space industry with high energy and desire to work in a collaborative environment. Creative, resourceful, open‑minded, and driven to succeed. Familiarity with 3D printers and SolidWorks. Involvement in related extracurricular activities or clubs. Prior internships, work experience, or certifications are a plus.
