Position Overview Under the direction of the Nursing Program Director, the instructor develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. Teaching may occur at MATC campuses, other sites, or online during day, evening, or weekend sessions. The role includes participation in department meetings, curriculum development, staff development, student advising, outcome assessment, and other duties as assigned. The instructor must stay current with the latest trends and technologies in the discipline. Key Responsibilities Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities. Manage the classroom/laboratory environment. Develop curriculum and monitor and revise it to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation. Manage equipment, supplies, and materials. Assess student performance. Advise students on academic issues. Collaborate with advisory committee in the program/department area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings. Promote the education/training program and participate in recruitment and retention efforts. Support student organizations and activities. Develop relationships with business and industry. Complete program/department evaluation and follow‑up. Maintain certification, continue professional development, and stay current in the field. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing. Two (2) years of full‑time or equivalent (4000 hours) experience as a Registered Nurse. At least one (1) year of verifiable work experience as a registered nurse in a long‑term care or nursing home setting. Desired experience: at least one (1) year of work experience within the last five (5) years; or two (2) years of teaching Nursing, including Practical, Registered, or Nurse Aide coursework within the last five (5) years. Completion of a course in teaching adults or supervising Nurse Aides; ability to achieve approval within 30 days of hire from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Department of Quality Assurance as a Primary Instructor. Current, unencumbered (good standing) license as a registered nurse issued by the State of Wisconsin. Previous teaching experience preferred. Experience teaching and/or developing curriculum in in‑person and online settings; familiarity with classroom, blended, and 100% online modalities. Ability to develop and maintain curriculum currency. Working knowledge of computers and related software (MS Office/Google Suite, Blackboard or similar LMS, web‑conference tools, and social networking). Knowledge or willingness to learn additional LMS platforms preferred. Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly required. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of assessment of student academic competency attainment. Ability to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse backgrounds. Commitment to Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in instruction delivery. Work Hours & Salary This is a part‑time faculty pool position. Assignments are temporary and vary in hours/days based on course availability and department needs each semester. Instruction can be in‑person, online, and/or hybrid and may occur during daytime, evening, or weekend classes. The starting hourly wage for all part‑time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Additional compensation of $70 per hour is provided for office hours and preparation time (45 minutes for each hour of instruction). Health & Physical Requirements Must satisfy health requirements for the School of Health Science, including a criminal background check, drug test, and immunization verification.
