Job Title: RN CVICU Pediatrics

Experience: One year of experience with level 1 and CVICU.
License: Current RN License issued by the state board of nursing or current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.
Must-Have: PALS certification (American Heart Association). Must be willing to float to PICU, NICU, and CV Stepdown. Must commit to a 4-weekend requirement in a 4-week scheduling block. Day shift weekend days consist of Saturday and Sunday.


Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.


Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.


Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.


Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.


Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.


Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients.


Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.


Administers medication as prescribed.


Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.


Delivers patient care competently.


Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge.


Informs patients and families of hospital procedures.


Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.


Delegates tasks to support staff.


Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures is required.


Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is essential.


Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees is necessary.


Good verbal and written communication skills are required.


Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is essential.


Some computer skills are necessary.


Education:
Required Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in a Nursing Board Approved Program.
