Host Position

As a Host, you will be the first point of contact for guests, playing a crucial role in creating a welcoming and positive experience from the moment they arrive. Your primary objective is to manage guest flow efficiently, ensuring timely seating and minimizing wait times while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. You will coordinate with the service team to optimize table assignments and accommodate special requests, contributing to smooth restaurant operations. Additionally, you will handle reservations, answer inquiries, and address guest concerns promptly to uphold high customer satisfaction standards. Your role is vital in setting the tone for the dining experience and supporting the overall success of the establishment.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role preferred, ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members, basic computer skills for managing reservations and waitlists, and availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred qualifications include experience working as a host or in a front-of-house role in a restaurant or hospitality environment, familiarity with reservation and seating management software, strong multitasking abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure, knowledge of food and beverage menus to assist guests effectively, and bilingual skills to communicate with a diverse guest population.

Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly upon arrival and managing the seating process to ensure efficient table turnover, maintaining an organized waitlist and communicating wait times accurately to guests, coordinating with servers and kitchen staff to optimize seating arrangements and accommodate special requests, answering phone calls to manage reservations, provide information, and handle guest inquiries, addressing guest concerns or complaints promptly and escalating issues to management when necessary, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the host station and entrance area, and assisting with opening and closing duties as required.

The required communication skills are essential for greeting guests warmly, managing reservations, and coordinating with team members to ensure smooth operations. Organizational skills help in maintaining an efficient waitlist and seating process, which directly impacts guest satisfaction and restaurant flow. Problem-solving abilities are used daily to address guest concerns and adapt to changing situations such as unexpected wait times or special requests. Preferred skills like familiarity with reservation software streamline the booking and seating process, enhancing efficiency.
