Merchandise Planning Manager

The Planning Manager will drive seasonal planning, forecasting, and inventory management to maximize profitability across each season’s lifecycle. Responsibilities An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the responsibilities and tasks listed below. Other duties may be assigned. Own annual planning of sales, profit, and inventory objectives for assigned categories, including maintaining a monthly open-to-buy. Build pre-season plans that translate merchandising and marketing strategies into seasonal product plans. Manage in-season forecasting, monitoring sales against plan and adjusting inventory positions. Lead post-season hindsight and liquidation strategy to clear inventory profitably. Manage inventory to satisfy demand and meet fulfillment, turnover, and profitability objectives. Requirements 4 - 6 years of relevant experience in Merchandise Planning, preferably within an eCommerce or omnichannel environment, including Sales, Margin Forecasting, and Open-to-Buy management. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, inventory control, business, accounting, retail, or related field (or equivalent experience). Strong experience in both top-down and bottom-up planning, with a deep understanding of key financial metrics including sales, gross margin, and weeks of supply. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, drive alignment, and ensure accountability across teams. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex analysis clearly to senior leadership. Highly adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment across Merchandising, Marketing, and Finance. Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Advanced Excel proficiency, including the ability to analyze large datasets, build intuitive reporting, and utilize advanced formulas and pivot tables. Experience with purchase order systems and inventory management practices and procedures. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies; able to set priorities and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
