The role includes assembling surgical instrument sets, distributing patient care supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with clinical standards and protocols.

Job Details

• Position: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
• Location: Portland, OR
• Schedule: Day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 40 hours
• Certifications/Education: High School Education/GED or equivalent is required; Associates/Technical Degree or equivalent is preferred; Sterile Processing Technician certification is preferred
• Experience: 0 years of experience required, with responsibilities including decontamination, sterilization, preparation of instruments for immediate use, and daily diagnostic testing of sterilizing equipment
• Essential Functions:
  • Decontaminates and processes instruments, including compiling instrument sets, counting instruments, and recording counts
  • Sterilizes instruments, trays, basins, and related items with proper exposure/dry times
  • Prepares instruments for immediate use sterilization as necessary
  • Maintains a clean and orderly department environment, including weekly cleaning of autoclave chambers
  • Assists with room turnover and terminal cleaning in operating room suites and daily duties as needed
  • Performs diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment, including biological indicators and test cycles for endoscope processors
  • Evaluates instruments for safety and functionality, including loaner instruments tracking and biological incubator maintenance
  • Provides reprocessing services for ancillary departments such as Emergency Room, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Radiology
