Commercial Construction Estimator – Ground-Up

$80,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience

ConTech Construction Company is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator with a strong background estimating ground-up commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final bid .

This is not a residential or single-trade estimating position. We are looking for an estimator who understands the entire commercial construction project and can develop complete estimates involving multiple CSI divisions, subcontractors, materials, labor, equipment, and project scope.

The ideal candidate has worked for a commercial general contractor and has hands-on experience estimating ground-up projects, reviewing complete construction documents, performing takeoffs, soliciting and leveling subcontractor bids, identifying scope gaps, and assembling accurate bid packages.

Experience with BuildingConnected is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

• Prepare complete estimates for ground-up commercial construction projects and select commercial renovation or tenant improvement projects.
• Review architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other construction documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Develop estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, suppliers, and general conditions.
• Solicit bids and pricing from subcontractors and vendors across multiple construction trades.
• Review and level subcontractor proposals to identify scope gaps, exclusions, overlaps, and inconsistencies.
• Build comprehensive bid packages, budgets, proposals, and estimate summaries.
• Evaluate project scope and identify constructability issues, potential risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Maintain accurate cost data, historical pricing, subcontractor information, and estimating templates.
• Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, owners, and company leadership throughout the estimating process.
• Participate in preconstruction planning and assist with project handoff after contract award.
• Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience estimating ground-up commercial construction projects .
• Experience working for or estimating projects on behalf of a commercial general contractor strongly preferred.
• Ability to estimate projects involving multiple construction trades rather than a single specialty.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents.
• Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs.
• Experience soliciting, reviewing, and leveling subcontractor bids.
• Understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, materials, and trade scopes.
• Ability to identify missing scope, exclusions, cost risks, and potential constructability issues.
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple bids and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with BuildingConnected .
• Familiarity with CSI divisions and commercial construction trade scopes.
• Experience with estimating and digital takeoff software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience developing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and final bid proposals.
• Knowledge of Colorado construction costs, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Experience with design-build projects is a plus.

Who We're Looking For

The right person is more than a quantity takeoff estimator. We are looking for someone who understands how a commercial project comes together from the ground up and can look at a complete set of plans, understand the project scope, coordinate pricing across the trades, recognize what may be missing, and develop a reliable estimate for the entire project.

You should be comfortable owning an estimate from the initial plan review through subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, pricing, final proposal, and project handoff.

Compensation

$80,000–$120,000 annually , depending on commercial estimating experience and qualifications.
